Simple Couscous Salad

I thought I would share with you such a cheap, versatile lunch idea that I do so regularly for not just myself, but for my toddlers aswell. It is quite possibly my favourite thing to have for lunch and if I get bored of using the same old ingredients then I can just change a couple of the ingredients or add some chorizo to spruce it up.

This Couscous Salad is great to have on it's own or as a side dish with a main, but as I said, it is super easy to do and you can whip up a batch in minutes. Below is what I had on a typical day using leftovers but I have put the calculations down as to what the prices would have been if I had bought the ingredients from the supermarket, Tesco.

My 4 Favourite Money Saving Apps

I really love being able to save money each week by just doing my regular shopping. Previously I have used coupons and vouchers that I need to cut out and take with me to the shop to be scanned but with these apps below I have found I don't really need to do that if I don't want to. I can simply get cash back on items that I would usually buy, get free items, even make a little bit of extra cash and it is extremely easy to do.

There are many apps out there that can help you save money but these are the 4 I use regularly and it has really helped me save quite a bit of money and with the Music Magpie app we have managed to make some too.

Weekly Meal Plan 15/01/18

We decided for this week at the moment to go vegetarian. I use to be vegetarian as a child and enjoyed the Quorn products back then, so I am really looking forward to trying the Quorn sausages this week. I am hoping that this would be something we could take forward for the majority of the time and maybe have more dishes in our weekly meal plan that are vegetarian.

3 Course Meal For Under £15

On the evening of New Year's Eve rather than going out anywhere and spending lots of money before the new year started, I decided to cook a 3-course meal at home. I always opt for this idea because it means we can have a nice meal, spend time together and not have a hefty bill at the end.

I thought I would share with you the meal plan and how much it all came to so that if you are stuck for money and need to entertain you can do it on a lot less. All these recipes are from Jamie Olivers 5 Ingredients Cookbook but a couple of the ingredients I could not find so I bought things as substitutes, which worked out great as it made it cheaper. I did this shopping at Tesco.

Starter:
(700g Baby Carrots £1.26, 1 Pomegranate £1.25, 120g Mint £1.25, 80g Feta 54p, 100g Wild Rice 27p, 100g Red Rice 31p) = £4.88 (£1.22 per person)
