After failing many times at making bread last year I decided it was about time I gave it another go.
Rather than searching for a recipe, I instead followed the one that was on the side of the Allinson Easy Bake Yeast tub that I bought.
500g Strong Bread Flour
15g Butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Sugar
2 tsp/7g Easy Bake Yeast
300ml Warm Water (2 part boiling, 1 part cold)
1. Add flour and salt to a large bowl then stir in the sugar and the yeast. Rub in the butter and add the water.
2. Mix to form a dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
3. Shape the dough and place in a 2lb loaf tin, cover then leave in a warm place for about 45 minutes until it has doubled in size.
4. Preheat oven to 230°C and bake the loaf for 15 minutes. Reduce the heat to 200°C and bake for a further 15 minutes until golden brown.
