Doug’s Homemade Burgers

The other week it was ridiculously hot, but it was the perfect weather to get the BBQ out. This weekend will be no exception so I thought I would share with you one of our favourite things to do, which is to make our own burgers. It is so much cheaper and only takes minutes to prepare before you pop it onto the BBQ.

This recipe is the one my hubby, Doug, came up with.

Ingredients (5/6)
500g Mince (1kg £3.35) £1.68
1tsp Fennel Seeds (36g 85p) 5p
1 tsp Oregano (14g 70p) 5p
1 tsp Thyme (16g 70p) 4p
Salt and Pepper (Cupboard Staple)

Total: £1.82 (approx 30p per burger)

1. Put all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix together with your hands.

2. Once everything has been combined make 5/6 even balls. One by one flatten each ball to create a disc and pop them onto a plate.

3. Put them on the BBQ and once cooked serve with a burger bun and salad.
