It has been a while since I wrote on this blog about what we have been getting up to as a family and how Mabel and Martha have been getting on, so I thought I would do that today.
As always, we will kick this off with how the girls have been getting on now Mabel is 3 and Martha is 2. Martha turned 2 only a couple of months ago but it seems the girls are now on the same page. They can communicate and talk to each other, love playing the same thing (which also results in arguments), enjoy making each other laugh, they pretend play with superheroes and have tea parties. They are very cute together.
On Friday, Martha will be starting preschool as well, which I have no doubt she is going to love. A big step but a very exciting one. I am not too sure they know what is going to hit them because Martha’s personality is so crazy, cheeky and very mischievous, I mean our house has been covered in lovely drawings everywhere on our newly painted walls, and also our new furniture. She is a great sleeper, eats anything, oh and an obsession of hers is dogs. Someone with a dog can occupy her for hours.
Mabel goes to preschool for 2 1/2 days a week and it is probably her most favourite time of the week because she never actually wants to come home. I swear home life is fun too. We have started toilet training because at 3 years old she is a little late to the party on this, but I am happy I did wait this long because the times before she was not ready, but she is now. I will do a blog post in the coming weeks of what we did and how she has got on. Mabel understands everything and her imagination is insane I think for a 3-year-old. She still has her inhaler every morning and night along with some medication which is meant to help open the airways, and so far everything seems to be going well, touch wood.
With our family life, I wished we had more time together, but with the weather hopefully changing it will allow us to get outside and take more days trips. Doug still commutes into London every day which is draining for him so I just hope that in the future this will change and he can find something else closer to home. In the meantime, I thought it was time to start looking for a job locally for myself, preferably I want to work part-time to try and fit it in with the girls, but those jobs, of course, are scarce so I have also been applying for full-time roles. I don’t have to go back to work but I think it will be good for me to get out and find what I want to do careerwise. After all, I have just celebrated turning 31 so I need to get a move on and plan for that future retirement.
Home life is great, we have been doing up our house to make it as near finished as possible for us to enjoy for a little while because we are indeed taking the big step of putting it on the market. Now, we know what we want and where but also know that it might be near impossible to get it, so if we don’t sell, or don’t find the house of our dreams then we are very much happy to stay where we are for a little while longer.
So at the moment, everything has been moving along quite nicely and I have been spending lots more time with the girls, soaking it all up because they are growing bigger every day. While I have been spending time doing this I have taken a little bit of a back seat with my blog while I figure out a few things, but I hoping to put more of a schedule in place once the girls are both comfortable at preschool together.
