Monday’s seem to roll around quickly and before you know it you are spiralled into confusion as to what it is you need to do that week, where you need to go or who you need to see.
In my house, Monday’s is the only day that I have both the girls together at home, so the house is pretty much chaos with constant questions being asked, mess everywhere and a battle with the girls arguing. It sends me in a tizzy and I lose my train of thought or forget something that needed to be done. By the end of the week, there are always jobs that are still unfinished and I am completely shattered.
So how can I make things easier for myself?
Well, I have been looking at how I can hit the ground running at the start of the week and get organised. It seems by doing a little preparation on Sundays will make the week ahead run as smoothly as it can and decrease the stress levels.
So here is what I plan to do.
Make A To Do List
I am notorious for constantly making lists but they are always all over the place on different pieces of paper. It’s how I get very confused. To combat this I have a planner which will be used to write all the things that I need to do during the week, appointments, who I need to call, deliveries etc. This should help me focus when Monday begins even with the girls running about, as I won’t forget what it is I am doing.
When it comes to meal planning I am quite good at it, but what I need to do is start writing it out on Sunday. It will allow me to see what ingredients we have left to use up and what extras we might need in the weekly shop. I can then order the groceries that need to be delivered, rather than always having double of some things, and make a list for all the things I need at the supermarket.
As a parent laundry needs to be done every single day in order to stay on top of things, so when the weekend rolls around in our house, there is still a massive pile left. To make sure the week starts right I am going to get all the laundry done and everything dried and put away. As Mabel is at Rugby on Sunday mornings this is the perfect time to get it done, and I will add changing all the bedding so the week begins feeling fresh.
As a blogger and a committee member for my girls preschool, I have 3 different email addresses, which as a collection can accumulate to quite a hefty amount of messages. Sunday evenings seem a perfect time to have a clearout of my inbox by deleting messages no longer needed and filing the ones that are important. This will help tremendously as I will be able to have a clear view of new important messages that are coming through.
Plan Something Fun
During the week it doesn’t have to be all work. That is something I need to remember. If I just plan one thing to do either with the girls or on my own, it will allow me to have that break and get my head together for the rest of the week. It will definitely give me something to look forward to.
So that’s it. How I plan to make my weeks begin being as prepared as I can.
How do you get organised for the week ahead?
