Mother’s Day is not too far away, Sunday 31st March, and for many women, it is such a wonderful day, especially for new mums or mums to be. On the other side for the partners, it is the day that they most worry about.
Yes, there are numerous gifts out there that are said to be tailored to what we want, but is that necessarily true to everyone. I think not. A box of chocolates, flowers, a mug, jewellery etc are all rather nice, especially if it is something you would love, but it doesn’t sum up the role you play as a mother. So before your partner starts to panic buy, maybe explain to them what it is you REALLY would like for Mothers Day and make it easier for them and much more enjoyable for you.
So we move on to the things that I would really want for Mother’s Day, and who knows maybe you want the same.
1. Sleep or maybe just a lie in because as a parent lie-ins are a distant memory, I mean did they ever really exist, but just once, just for one morning, I would love to not have to get up at 7 am.
2. You could even pair the sleep in with a nice cup of Tea in bed to gently wake me up in the morning.
3.Cuddles, lots of cuddles.
4. A walk followed by a pub lunch, or maybe even a meal at home that I did not have to cook myself. Whichever you choose, having a nice meal with the family is much needed, but also allowing space in the day for some quiet time. And by that, I mean quiet time for me to do what I want and use the time for myself.
5. Finally, I would like a nice hot bath, but one where I get privacy. I don’t want the door opening every minute letting the cold air out, or someone watching me, no scrap that staring at me up and down to which I then get ‘look at your boobies’ or ‘what’s that’. No, all I want is a hot bath all alone, even better with a glass of wine and maybe some music.
Well, that’s me and the things I REALLY would like for Mother’s Day. So for the budget conscious like us or for the partners that are not the best at organising anything, just switch the kettle and let your partner relax. Just for a little bit.
