It wasn’t too long ago I mentioned that I had joined a gym. Of course, I was nervous about how my body would react to this sudden interest in getting fit and healthy. Plus I wondered if I would like it. I can now say one month into my gym experience I honestly love it. I never thought I would but it really has become a big part of my weekly schedule.
You often think that gyms are full of people with washboard abs and muscles bursting out, well practically everywhere. However, that has not been my experience at all. There are just so many different types of people all wanting to get fit, healthy and social. I honestly can’t believe how many of the older generation take exactly the same classes as me. They nail it each time. I hope I am like that when I get to their age.
So, it has been a month and over this time it has been a learning curve when it comes to what exercise classes I enjoy. I have tried Zumba, LBT (Legs, Bums and Tums), Yoga, Body Balance, Group Cycle (Spinning), and there are still many more that I still need to try. Each week I like to try and do at least 4 exercise classes and then if my body is up to it, throw in some extras. I can either add more classes, jump on the gym equipment or have a dip in the pool. The latter I am still yet to do.
What I love is that with the gym being a short drive away I can just pop over for a class, or for an hour. With it having great facilities such as a lovely cafe and an Adult only quiet area, it means I can get other things done. I am currently writing this post at the gym now while I am between classes. It really does allow me to be flexible.
The thing that I forgot about when it comes to exercise is how much it impacts on not just your body but your mental state. I have been more positive, confident, motivated and I get so much more done. It also feels extremely nice to get out of the house a few days a week and be social.
I know it has only been a month but it has really changed so much in that time.
